#1202 Round The Bays Fun Run Auckland, NZ 2010

Show 1202 Saturday 20 March
Watch today's show at YouTube or BlipTV.

Last Sunday, the tdes crew ran in a fun run called Round the Bays.
It started at 9:30 in the morning. I think we got there at about 9.
We saw lots of people in groups wearing the same T-shirts and some people wearing costumes.

We tried to walk as close to the starting line as possible, but we didn’t get very far.
There were about 70,000 people there apparently, including the prime minister of New Zealand who, bizarrely, told us to cheer for Lady Gaga.

Come on, Lady Gaga deserves better than that.

There was a countdown to the start of the race.

5,4,3,2,1 … woo-hoo!

Then we stood still for several minutes. And finally, began to shuffle.
Eventually we passed the start line, where the prime minister was blowing kisses to the crowd. Oooook.

About a hundred meters past the start line we could finally start to slowly jog.
It started raining for a bit. But it didn’t last long.
After a few kilometers my face started to look like a tomato as usual. But there were water stations about every kilometer which was nice.

At the finish line they scanned our bibs and gave us a bottle of water.

Good job, mate.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Well done.

Pushchairs and prams to the right or left hand chutes please. Right or left hand chutes.
Leave the middle ones for the runners. And those of you just finishing, well done. The clock shows a time of coming up to one hour and seven minutes.

Then we queued up to get a sticker which showed our time.

66. Well done.
Thank you.
66 minutes.

8.4 kilometers in 66 minutes.
Awesome.
