Sunday Kitchen #173

Someone gave me some chia seeds recently. I'd never heard of them before. Apparently they're really nutritious so some people call them a superfood.

I looked them up and in Wikipedia it says that in Mexico people make a drink called chia fresca which is chia seeds in water or juice.

So I decided to make some chia fresca.

I put a tablespoon of chia seeds into a glass with some water and I stirred it and left it for a couple of minutes. One of the interesting things about chia seeds is that if you leave them in water for a few minutes, a kind of gel forms around them.

I added a teaspoon of lemon juice, a teaspoon of a sweetener called agave nectar and a few mint leaves.

It was very tasty.
